As the backbone of LAAN, volunteers are recruited and trained by LAAN Staff and veteran volunteers in key aspects of the position for which they are assigned.  Volunteers must submit an application, complete a 30-minute interview with the Office Manager, agree to a background check, and sign a Confidentiality Agreement prior to being assigned.

To apply, please complete the volunteer application and back ground check authorization, and return it to Katie McKay via e-mail.

Volunteers assist LAAN staff with clerical support, answering telephones, front desk coverage, bulk mailings, filing, data entry and copying.

Due to COVID-19 precuations, this volunteer will be conducting temperature screenings and completing a health questionnaire for all peoples entering the suite, and wiping down the high-touch surfaces in the reception area every two hours in addition to the regularly assigned tasks.

Food pantry volunteers are critical in ensuring that clients facing food insecurities are able to have their needs met. Volunteers will be responsible for stocking and cleaning the pantry space as well as packing boxes of food to be delivered by LAAN staff.

Due to precautions while facing the COVID-19 pandemic, the food pantry is operating on a by-delivery-only basis.

Volunteers assisting with virtual outreach will be responsible for assisting in creating informative material to post on our website and social media pages.

This position can be completed remotely in your own time, but will require regular communication and a once-monthly in person meeting with our office manager.

All content created will be approved by LAAN staff before being shared on the web.

All HIV testing volunteers must complete a certification course.

Please contact our Prevention Coordinator via e-mail at nyang@laanonline.org for more information on this position.

Rather than have a regularly scheduled volunteer shift, special events volunteers are called upon to help with outreach and fundraising at various points throughout the year.

This can include tasks such as manning a booth at the AIDS Walk, promoting our annual Red Ribbon Brunch, or various other outreach opportunities.
